LEAD POISONING IN CHILDREN

Lead paint can no longer be sold, however, every year children are exposed to lead dust from chipping and pealing paint or from remodeling and renovation projects. If your dwelling predates 1984, there is a good chance that there is lead paint on the walls.  It must be treated as a hazardous substance and precautions must be taken if the walls are sanded, stripped,  refinished or removed.  Failure to take the proper measures can expose you and your children to heavy-metal poisoning.

Lead poisoning can cause permanent brain damage and learning deficits.  It is a serious matter!  If you think your child has been exposed to lead, take your child to a doctor for a lead test. If your child has tested positively for lead and you live or have lived in a rental home or apartment, your landlord may be liable for damages. If you have any questions about whether you or your child can recover damages
